All Scripture is God-breathed, and profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, in order that the person of God may be complete, having been equipped for every good work.  2 Timothy 3:16-17 DLNT

There is a terrible tendency nowadays for people, even some Christians, to equate the Word of God with Man’s word! While we have every right to question and debate human ideas, we don’t have such a right as far as the Scriptures are concerned. Whereas human ideas are relative, the Bible is not! It’s the final authority in all matters of morality.

The entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is relevant and competent enough to teach us the truth about everything, to correct our mistaken beliefs, to rectify our errant behaviour and to train us afresh to please God. Do you want to know the truth about human nature, creation, marriage, relationships, leadership, business, sexuality, money, morality, cosmology, governance, the sanctity of life or the fate of human history? Consult the Word of God. Trust it more than human principles.

The mistake I’ve noticed with many believers today is that they start from the assumption that society’s ideas are Gospel truth, as it were. Consequently, they blindly accept the lies of the enemy as normative. That’s why our world is so messed up!

I challenge you in the love of Christ to submit to the authority of Scripture in all matters. Don’t treat God’s Word as a suggestion! Don’t view it as an opinion. Don’t behave as though the commands of God are optional. Rather, treat the Bible as God-breathed. That means it’s the intentional, authoritative, relevant and timeless revelation. Look beyond the human vessels the Holy Spirit used to compile the Scriptures. If only Christians would unreservedly embrace the Bible aright, our influence and impact would be extraordinary!

Your faith in the Word of God determines its fruits in your life. Your respect for the Bible determines your moral rectitude. Your devotion to the Scriptures defines your destiny. Your spiritual competence depends on your compliance with the wisdom of God in Scripture. Will you recommit to live by the Word of God rather than human philosophy? I will.
