Mark 4:37
And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling.

So many Christians, especially immature ones, are shocked and confused when problems befall them in spite of their unwavering devotion to Christ. Sometimes it’s partly due to the way ministers and other witnesses present the Gospel. Often the gist of our preaching says something like, “Come to Jesus and all your problems will evaporate”. How so wrong!

Beloveds, God never promised us a stroll in the park as we pilgrim on this earth. He never said it would all be a bed of roses. He never said there would be no rain. He never promised a life of perpetual sunshine. He never said there wouldn’t be any valleys.

But He promised to never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). He promised His rod and staff to comfort us (Psalm 23:4). He promised to give us peace beyond understanding (Phil 4:7). He promised to give us a way to endure and overcome every temptation (1Corinthians 10:13). He promised enough grace (2Corinthians 12:9). He promised wisdom on request (James 1:5). And He assures us that in all these things we are more than conquerors and nothing shall separate us from the love of God that is in Christ (Romans 8:37-39).
