Hebrews 12:22-24
But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

When Cain murdered his innocent brother Abel, he thought he would get away with it. He didn’t know that Abel’s blood would cry out to God for justice (see Genesis 4:10). Although Adam and Eve had no clue what had happened to their younger son, the heinous crime was instantly reported in heaven by the blood of the innocent victim. So, God stepped in and meted out judgment against the culprit.

Likewise, nowadays many folks think they are getting away with murder of innocent victims of all ages. They don’t know that the blood of every murder victim reports directly to God, even when there’s no evidence left on the crime scene. They have no idea that blood speaks. It has a voice that is loud and clear in the spirit world. But this is not the main subject of this devotional.

Rather, our Scripture today points out an essential truth that is overlooked by many good Christians. It’s the truth regarding the voice of the blood of Jesus that was shed on Calvary. Beloveds, let us understand that we have come to Jesus the Mediator of a New Covenant, sealed by His precious blood that speaks better than the blood of Abel.

Now, how does that truth help us today? A great deal, if we embrace this powerful spiritual weapon. For instance, the Bible teaches that believers overcome the devil by testifying the blood of the Lamb (see Revelation 12:11). This is one of our greatest spiritual weapons! It is a super weapon.

It is our responsibility to declare the blood of Jesus against all our issues. When we confess the blood of Jesus over our adversaries, we are enforcing the finished work of Christ on Calvary. We overcome Satan when we testify personally to what the word of God says the blood of Jesus does for us.

The blood of Jesus speaks to God and the spiritual realm of our redemption (Ephesians 1:7), our justification (Romans 5:9), our sanctification (Hebrews 13:12), our cleansing (1 John 1:7), our new life (John 6:53-57), our access (Hebrews 10:19-23), and much much more. No wonder Scripture says it speaks better things than the blood of righteous Abel! Let us use this super spiritual weapon today in all our struggles. Victory is certain!
